KEN CATHERS

There’s been a constant, steady maturing in Ken Cathers’ poetry. He became a legitimate “Master” poet quite a while ago, listening to his ear score a poem’s cadence by line, breath, stanza, down the heart of each page. But here, with this newest group of poems, there’s an even greater surety and confidence in his process, a case of Cathers’ powerfully locating, poem after poem, the exact “right” word or phrase to make a reader realize, ahh, right, this had to be said that way—no other words would have gotten us so precisely there.
